Background
The Marine Corps League SSgt Karl G. Taylor, Sr. (Howard County) Detachment 1084 has a history of donating to several worthy causes including the Marines Helping Marines Program and the detachment annual scholarship. In 2005, it was suggested by former detachment member Mike Corbett that a large annual event take place to raise a significant amount of money to donate to various worthy causes and to support general detachment operations. After a great deal of discussion and research, a decision was made to hold a golf tournament on the Floyd L. Parks course at Fort George G. Meade. Chuck Casey and Frank "Kip" Kippenbrock led this effort. This first golf tournament was a great success with 93 players participating. Over half the money raised was donated.
Schedule
Future golf tournaments have been placed on hold until further notice.

There can be only one
This year's course, which was a mix of the Applewood and the Parks course, provided some great golfing. Several teams scored well under par, with 63 being a common score. But there can be only one winner and this year it was the team comprised of Terry Eggleston, Paul Barnett, Mitch Harris, and Cui Harris. Their score was 60. Great job guys! See you next year.

Good morning!
As tables were set up and players arrived, the sun rose over the Floyd L. Parks course. Check-in began at 0630. Frank "Kip" Kippenbrock, Chuck Casey, Joe Roman, and Saki checked in players, sold duffers, collected money, and handed out goodie bags.

Recognizing sponsors
This event wouldn't have taken place if it wasn't for our generous sponsors. We recognized them with signs placed throughout the course. Please remember to give them your business and tell them a warm "thank you."
Opening words
The organizers of this event, Chuck Casey and Frank "Kip" Kippenbrock, thanked the sponsors, recognized the fallen Marines with a moment of silence, then set the players off on a fine day of golfing.
Schwing!
Players teed off and opened with some long power drives.
From the fairway to the green
Now a little finesse is needed to make it onto the green while avoiding those sand traps.
From the green into the hole
Despite high humidity and temperatures in the low 90s, players got into the "zone" and managed to sink some challenging putts.
Waiting at hole 10
Our own Fletch Fergusson and Mike Betts made themselves comfortable. Their mission was to verify if someone made a hole-in-one at hole 10. If a golfer did, they (the player, not Fletch and Mike) would win a new car provided by Apple Ford. Unfortunately, there were no winners.
Chow time!
After a hard morning of golfing, players deserved a good meal at the clubhouse...all including in the fee.
Thanks again!
Once again we recognized our sponsors...this time with framed certificates.
Winners
Even though the tournament was for charity and fun, players did their best to obtain the lowest score possible. The team comprised of Paul Weinecke, Bob Ramage, Deb Felmey, and Bill Conover won with an incredible score of 57! Congratulations team!
